IBEW Local 47 Endorses Col Applegate for Congress

Col Doug Applegate will uphold that sacred obligation in the halls of Congress upon his arrival, to the very best of his considerable ability,” said IBEW Local 47 Business Manager Pat Lavin.

September 25, 2017 – Today, Pat Lavin representing Local 47 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, endorsed Colonel Doug Applegate for California’s 49th Congressional District, saying “USMC Marines are Brothers always and forever!  Every one of our Corps, till the day we die and beyond, has a duty to all the citizens of the USA, to protect and defend the principles of democracy that our great republic is built upon! I'm confident that my friend, Col Doug Applegate will uphold that sacred obligation in the halls of Congress upon his arrival, to the very best of his considerable ability!! Semper Fi.”

“I’m honored by the endorsement of IBEW Local 47,” said Colonel Applegate. “As your future congressman I pledge to ‘leave no one behind.’ This is a promise I made when I served in the Marines, and it is a promise I make to every single person in the 49th. If we are to fight for opportunity for all, we must first strengthen and protect the middle class, and that starts with the opportunites provided through apprenticeships and good union jobs. Let’s get to work.”

Momentum continues to grow for the Democratic candidate to replace Darrell Issa.  Colonel Applegate has received the endorsement of the IBEW Local 441, Roofers and Waterproofers Local 220, Plasterers Union Local 200, National Nurses Union (NNU) California State Association of Letter Carriers, California State American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and VoteVets.  Applegate will again challenge controversial incumbent Rep. Darrell Issa to represent the 49th District in the June 2018 primary, promising to overcome the narrowest (1,621) vote gap of 2016 election cycle.
