Colonel Applegate will promote policies and legislation that encourage a fair and even playing field for our members and the community, said Ironworkers 433 Business Agent Keith Harkey
August 26, 2017 – Today, Ironworkers 433 endorsed Colonel Doug Applegate for California’s 49th Congressional District, saying he is the candidate that will stand for working families.
“Colonel Applegate will promote policies and legislation that encourage a fair and even playing field for our members and the community,” said Ironworkers 433 Business Agent Keith Harkey. “
His support for apprenticeship programs will give opportunities to men and women to become highly trained and to excel."
“Ironworkers know what it takes to build a solid framework, and I’m strengthened by their endorsement,” said Colonel Applegate. “I vow to support legislation that invests in infrastructure, apprenticeships, vital tools to ensuring working class families and communities succeed as we rebuild America.”
Local 433 represents ironworkers in Orange, County, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the surrounding area. Their 5,000 members are the best-trained and safest ironworkers in the industry. They offer a world-class apprenticeship program, continuing education and a unified voice advocating for fair wages and safe working conditions. Local 433 employs productive, highly-skilled, drug-free ironworkers.
Momentum continues to grow for the Democratic candidate to replace Darrell Issa. Colonel Applegate has received the endorsement of the Roofers and Waterproofers Local 220, Plasterers Union Local 200, National Nurses Union (NNU) California State Association of Letter Carriers, California State American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and VoteVets. Applegate will again challenge controversial incumbent Rep. Darrell Issa to represent the 49th District in the June 2018 primary, promising to overcome the narrowest (1,621) vote gap of 2016 election cycle.
Douglas Applegate is a Colonel USMCR (retired). Use of his military rank, job titles, and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy, or the Department of Defense.
