We stand hand in hand with Colonel Applegate in his bid to replace Darrel Issa,
said Plasterers Union Local 200 Business Agent, Christian Bettencourt.

August 23, 2017 – Today, Plasterers Union Local 200 endorsed Colonel Doug Applegate for California’s 49th Congressional District, saying he is the candidate that will fight for working families and bring much needed change to Washington, D.C.

“We stand hand in hand with Colonel Applegate in his bid to replace Darrell Issa,” said Plasterers Union Local 200 Business Agent, Christian Bettencourt.  “Together we will fight for better jobs, union quality trained workers, and health care for all.”

“Plasterers Union Local 200 is the ‘finishing force’ in the construction industry, and I am the force that will finish Darrell Issa’s career,” said Colonel Applegate.  “As your Congressman I pledge to protect California’s working families because I come from a middle-class union household. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if I didn’t grow up union. In Congress I’ll remember where I came from, and I pledge to fight for local hire, good paying jobs, and Medicare-for-all.”

Plasterers Union Local 200 has 714 members that are considered the construction industry’s finishing force. The Union Local 200 plasterer provides world class skills and workmanship. Union plasterers pride themselves on the ability to provide the highest-qualified craftsmen in the industry.

Momentum continues to grow for the Democratic candidate to replace Darrell Issa.  Colonel Applegate has received the endorsement of the Plasterers Union Local 200, National Nurses Union (NNU), California State Association of Letter Carriers, California State American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and VoteVets.  Applegate will again challenge controversial incumbent Rep. Darrell Issa to represent the 49th District in the June 2018 primary, promising to overcome the narrowest (1,621) vote gap of 2016 election cycle.

Douglas Applegate is a Colonel USMCR (retired). Use of his military rank, job titles, and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy, or the Department of Defense.
