Orange County Assemblymember Tom Daly endorses Col Doug Applegate for Congress in California's 49th District.

"Doug Applegate has already proven himself to be a fierce fighter for the 49th and he'd make an excellent Member of Congress," said Assemblymember Daly.  "Doug has a lifetime of leadership and service, and he's ready to apply his knowledge and experience from day one."

"I'm honored by Assemblymember Daly's endorsement," said Col Applegate. "Tom is a leader in addressing homelessness, affordable housing, mass-transit infrastructure and acting on climate. I look forward to finding ways we can work together on these issues, for the betterment of Orange County and the entire 49th."

Tom Daly was elected in November of 2012 to represent California's 69th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Orange. Daly was born and raised in the 69th District.  He first sought elective office in 1986, winning election to the Board of Trustees of the Anaheim Union High School District. Since that victory, Daly has won eight consecutive elections, including serving as Mayor of Anaheim from 1992-2002 and Orange County Clerk-Recorder from 2002-2012.

Momentum continues to grow for the Democratic candidate to replace Darrell Issa.  Colonel Applegate will again challenge controversial incumbent Rep. Darrell Issa to represent the 49th District in the June 2018 primary, promising to overcome the narrowest (1,621) vote gap of 2016 election cycle and defeat him in November. A full list of endorsements for Applegate for Congress can be found here.
